Managing your campaigns through COVID-19

Note: As of June 2020, Walmart Online Grocery has been rolled into one Walmart app and renamed Pickup & delivery.

As you can imagine, due to the current environment surrounding COVID-19, demand has surged in certain product categories in-store and online, resulting in higher-than-average out-of-stock rates as well as limited availability of pickup times. While we are working to replenish those items quickly, we want to ensure the best experience for our customers. As a result, we have paused the following:

  • Walmart.com and offsite display campaigns that direct customers to the Online Grocery platform.
  • Display campaigns that advertise COVID-19-sensitive categories on Walmart.com and Online Grocery, including cleaners and disinfectants (including wipes), paper towels, toilet paper, cold and flu.
  • Retailtainment including demo and product sampling, Walmart Associate-led events, experiential events and all supporting digital content.

These campaigns will be paused for the foreseeable future while we continue to monitor the situation daily. We will continue to extend the same guidelines we outlined  for all Display campaigns, including creative that meets sensitivity guidelines. Additionally, we are also monitoring ROAS to ensure there is no disruption and that our ads are continuing to drive optimal performance.
